Our organization believes in bringing together immigrants, healthcare professionals, educators, and advocates to achieve healthcare justice for all.

Executive Director: Kevin W. Minder, S.T.D.

Dr. Minder received a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, Italy, in the Summer of 2004. He is fluent in Spanish and has worked for more than ten years with immigrants who came to work in the fields and orchards of Central Washington State. He has lectured extensively and taught both in Rome, Italy and in Yakima, Washington.

Our Programs

National Solidarity Campaign:

The Center is conducting a national solidarity campaign. Currently trying to gather more than 100,000 signatures to the solidarity statement. If you would like to participate, click the link "I want to sign the statement."

National "New Physician's Network."
The Center is seeking participants from the nation's medical schools who would like to participate in our studies for the next ten years. If you are interested, please contact us at the center.

The Board of Directors

Susan Marting, B.S.; President
Susan Marting brings with her a wealth of experience in multi-cultural education projects. She specializes in designing and presenting social justice retreat encounters to young people. She served for five years on the Human Rights Commission of the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Rev. Gary Meier, M.Div.; Treasurer
Father Gary Meier is a pastor in St. Louis' inner-city. In addition to his theological degree, he has a degree in Social Work. He has appeared on such Christian television shows as "Faith Matters" and other radio programs. He is a featured speaker at retreats.

Dr. Carol Williams, M.D.
A former professor at both Washington University and St. Louis University, Dr. Williams brings a great expertise to our board. A OB-GYN by training, she has generously served on many boards; including, President of both the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society and the Missouri State Medical Association.

Sr. Annette Seymour, RSM
Sr. Annette Seymour has worked extensively in university campus ministry. Her interest in non-traditional medicine brings a unique gift to the board, since many immigrants come to our shores with a non-western view of medicine. She has a passion for justice for immigrants.

Kevin Lee, M.A.
Kevin Lee is the President of Loyola Academy. His last position was as Director of Institutional Advancement of the Aquinas Institute of Theology. He brings an extensive background in development to the Board of Directors.

Dr. Wilman Ortega, M.D.
Dr. Ortega was born in Guatemala. His did his residency in Chicago and then accepted a teaching position here in St. Louis. He is now a professor of Pulmonary medicine at the St. Louis University School of Medicine. In addition to his duties as a researcher on sickle cell disease and pulmonary hypertension, Dr. Ortega organizes and directs mission trips with medical students to his native Guatemala.

Aaron Dickey, J.D.
Aaron Dickey graduated with honors from St. Louis University Law School in 2001. He earned a certificate in International Law from the same university. His interest in immigration issues is rooted in his experience working with immigrants during his internships while in graduate school. He is an associate attorney with Goldenberg, Heller, Antongnoli, Rowland, Short & Gori.

Eva Enoch, M.A.
Eva works directly with immigrants and healthcare every day in her work as outreach coordinator, Refugee Health Services for Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She is Romanian by birth. She lived for many years in Hungary before emigrating to the United States. She is fluent in many languages and uses these skills as an official interpreter at the hospital. Eva earned a M.A. in Healthcare Administration from Webster University.

Jonathan Whiting, C.P.A., C.V.A
Jonathan Whiting graduated from UMSL in St. Louis. His interest in serving on the Board of Directors of the CIHJ is rooted in his belief that Healthcare should be available to everyone in society. He is a senior tax manager at the accounting firm of Schowalter & Jabouri P.C. His Memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
